TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A regular meeting of the Terre Haute City Council was held Thursday at City Hall.
As the end of the year approaches, many city officials gave reports on how their departments faired this year, including the Cemetery Committee, Street Department, and Wastewater Treatment Plant.
City Attorney Michael Wright suggested two general ordinances to the council.
The first being to amend city code around mobile vendors.
There will now be an additional requirement for mobile vendors to prove they have registered with the state to pay food and beverage tax.
The second will affect businesses, as there is a proposal to allow them to upgrade or replace trash receptacles when needed.
“It’s a modification that is to ensure that there is upkeep of those items, that the items are being inspected. We want to make sure that the community looks good, presents well to the people that live here and the people that visit. Trying to ensure that the containers that are meant to hide that trash are in good, working order.”
The Terre Haute City Council will vote to approve or deny amending the city code around trash regulation next week, November 14th.
