VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Vigo County Council held a Sunshine Meeting Wednesday where they discussed the reallocation of funds, as well as the idea of security cameras at the courthouse.
Six resolutions were proposed to the council for the reallocation of funds in different divisions such as voter registration, parks, group homes, and the IT department.
The IT department also requested funds for the addition of cameras, to monitor the exterior of the courthouse.
Currently, the building has no exterior cameras.
Members of the council, including Marie Theisz, believe the vote coming up will be unanimous in favor of adding them.
“Really got our attention that we didn’t have them. I know that there is access to some of the cameras in there now, but as far as the ouside of the building, I think that’s very important. Not only for security, but there is a lot of architectural integrity to the building. There is a lot of people that come in and out, of course, whether it be the courts or other services that they are getting in the county courthouse. I think it’s just a very easy vote to support that.”
The voting of reallocations of the budget, as well as to put cameras up at the courthouse, will take place at the next meeting.
