TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Lisa Jones, President of Noon Optimist Club, has announced plans to host the 90th annual drive to provide new clothes for around 1,000 needy children.
The children in this drive will receive, depending on the need, a new coat, hoodie, shirt, pants, socks, and underwear. The Noon Optimist Club is currently working with teachers in Vigo County to determine which children in kindergarten through 5th grade are eligible to receive clothing.
The club is also hosting its Annual “Clothe-A-Child” Auction this year at the VFW on 12th Street and Mulberry Street on December 3 to raise money to buy the clothing. Some of the items up for sale are an autographed ISU football and basketball, four large stuffed animals, a large quilt from the Vigo County Quilt Guild, and more items donated by local businesses. Interested parties who want to learn more about the auction or want table reservations can email Nick Telezyn at nicktelezyn@hotmail.com.
Anyone interested in making a contribution to the effort can make checks payable to the Noon Optimist Club and mail them to Hayhurst Accounting at 519 Wabash Avenue Terre Haute, IN 47807 or, donate online at terrehauteclotheachild.com
