SULLIVAN, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Sullivan County CEO allows students to gain business skills in a non-classroom environment.
As these students learn from people within the community, they are also planning the Sullivan’s Got Talent event so they can earn money going towards a project that they will make next semester. The money will be made through ticket and merchandise sales at the event and that total will be split up amongst the students.
Student Trever Martin said that he enjoys this challenge.
“Getting out here and communicating with everyone and having to present myself is a lot,” said Martin. “Also, this program makes you have to learn on your own and not have someone holding your hand and showing you what to do. You have to learn.”
Student Jayla Phillips said that all of the preparation and planning that has gone into this event has only grown her love for this class and what her future has in store.
“Learning how to do your own stuff and being treated like an adult with a business and not a student is really the best part of this,” said Phillips. “I love coming to this class.”
Sullivan’s Got Talent will be on December 8 from 5-7 p.m. at the Sullivan County Fairgrounds
