VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Vigo County Clerk Brad Newman gave an early voting update on Friday.
Newman says that the county is 2,788 ballots away from breaking their early voting record. He added that there are over 70,000 registered voters in Vigo County, and he expects a large turnout to the polls on Tuesday.
“If we do have the turnout that I expect us to have on Tuesday, it’s going to be a long night, so bear with us, it could go into Wednesday,” Newman said. “My staff is preparing for that not to happen, we’re doing all the little things we can to get ahead of it, and hopefully we break the 50,000 mark. That’s a pretty strong number.”
Newman says that people should try to vote early, as long lines are expected across the entire county on Election Day.
