CRAWFORD COUNTY, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Crawford County Airport has been awarded 2024’s best small airport in Illinois.
This comes less than two years after a tornado completely destroyed the airport.
Secretary of the Crawford County Airport Authority Board Vicki May said that this is an honor that they have been trying to get for years.
“It is huge because of us always wishing we could win this and be recognized for, to us, an excellent small airport,’ said May.
May says that they are now in the process of building a new office space that will also allow the reboot of some of their aviation education programs.
