INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Young patients at Riley Children’s Hospital received a big surprise Wednesday including a 15-year-old from Terre Haute.
Brilea Southard, a Terre Haute native who has spent 325 days at Riley Hospital, and 15 other patients received a huge surprise Wednesday. Southard, who has been recovering from serious injuries sustained from a car accident last December, and her fellow patients were taken to a Taylor Swift-inspired event to make friendship bracelets and play “Taylor Trivia”.
During the last question of trivia though, the kids were asked, “Who will be at Taylor’s final show on the last leg of her U.S. tour in Indianapolis on Sunday?“
“um…Travis Kelce?” one of the patients guessed.
No, the surprise was that the kids would be attending the sold-out show in Indianapolis in a suite.
“I just cannot believe it, it’s a dream come true,” said Southard.
This will be Southard’s first time out of the hospital when she was initially told she wouldn’t be able to leave until the tour concluded. Other patients were said to have been speechless, with tears streaming as shock wore off and others jumped out of their chairs. This was all due to the Riley Children’s Foundation and Lora Denny from Denny Excavating who gifted the tickets to patients.
