TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Friday Indiana State University celebrated the state’s 66-million-dollar investment into the Bailey College of Engineering and Technology.
This is something that ISU President Mike Godard hopes will give them a leg up on the competition.
“When you have a state-of-the-art facility with state-of-the-art technology in it, that will attract new students,” said Godard. “We are looking at this in a way in which we attract in a very competitive market space in higher education, we attract those students to want to come to Indiana State and earn their degree in one of these high-demand stem related fields.”
Godard said that these improvements will make students more career ready going into the workplace which will lead to better local and state industry partnerships.
“The more that we can have those early and often interactions with business and industry, the better off our students will be in terms of preparation to hit the ground running on day one when they are hired by these industries,” said Godard.
Godard said that this is an investment that will help make the university of beacon of innovation in the state.
“It’s inspiring to see the leadership that we have at the state level to invest in capital improvement projects like this one across the state of Indiana that benefit the citizens of the state,” said Godard. “We do understand that this is an economic driver for what we do in the state of Indiana and nationally as well.”
Terre Haute-based Garmong Construction will serve as the construction manager for the project which is targeted for completion by January 1, 2027.
