SULLIVAN, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Friday, a physician in Sullivan received the Outstanding Rural Health Provider Award.
Dr. Daniel Callahan, who is the medical director of the Pain Clinic at Sullivan County Community Hospital, was surprised with the award Friday.
The award comes from the State Office of Rural Health, for efforts in a community.
Although Callahan was specifically honored, he says something like this can’t be achieved on one’s own.
It really is a testament of the hard work of the clinic, not my individual achievements, but kind of a group effort of all the people in the clinic. The nurse practitioners, the nurses, the front staff. They are a phenomenal group of people that really care about patients.

Dr. Callahan says he hopes things like this encourage more people to go into the medical field.
