OLNEY, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — We’re working to learn more about a police presence outside a home in Olney, Illinois, Sunday night.
According to a media release from the Richland County Sheriff’s Office, the Olney Police Department was handling a situation involving a wanted fugitive who was held up inside a residence near the Olney Public Library.
As of 8:18 p.m., the release stated that at the time there were no reported injuries due to the incident.
The Olney Police Department was assisted by Illinois State Police Crisis Negotiations and the ILEAS SWAT Team, among other local agencies.
Barricades were placed to prevent unauthorized personnel from entering the area and residents were urged to avoid the area while the incident was being handled.
Richland County Dispatch confirmed Monday morning that the road and blocked-off area has since reopened.
