VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— A three-vehicle accident at 8:40 a.m. on Interstate 70 ended with a truck in the median and a semi off the road according to Indiana State Police.
Corey R. Yund, age 34, of Crawfordsville was driving a 2020 Ford truck westbound on Interstate 70 when he suddenly slowed to make an illegal U-turn near mile marker 16 according to the release. Police said that due to this Tyler A. Nusbaumer, age 21, of Indianapolis hit Yund’s vehicle in the rear end causing the truck to travel south across the median into the eastbound lane of Interstate 70. Yund was then hit by a 2021 Freightliner semi-tractor-trailer driven by Haiguang Zhong, age 42, of Rosemead, California. Police say that threw Yund’s truck back into the median and the semi off the south side of the interstate.
Yund was transported to a local hospital by ambulance after being extracted by first responders. No other injuries were reported. Yund was cited for making an illegal U-turn. The Indiana State Police encourage all motorists to follow all signs posted on the roadways.
