TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Wednesday afternoon, the United Way of the Wabash Valley held its 20th annual Power of the Purse fundraiser.
Over 400 guests gathered at the Hulman Center to participate in silent auctions and raffles for purses and purse packages. These funds go towards Success by 6, which promotes healthy early childhood learning to prepare children to enter school ready to succeed.
Its Executive Director Abby Desboro said this is always her favorite day of the year.
“Power of the Purse to me is seeing a bunch of people together and powerful and influential women who really want to give back to their community and show up for a great cause for the afternoon,” said Desboro.
Also, during this event, Claudia Tanoos, the founder of Power of the Purse, was presented a special award recognizing her years of work to benefit the children of the Wabash Valley.
