CLAY COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Two men are now facing federal charges after they sent six pounds of meth through the mail from Phoenix, Arizona to Brazil, Indiana.
According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, earlier this year, deputies learned of a suspicious package, got a search warrant, and found the drugs. In March, deputies arrested Steven Dotson, 50, of Marion County, Indiana after they determined he was the intended recipient of the drugs.
As the investigation continued officials located and arrested the man they say sent the package from Phoenix, Arizona. He is 50-year-old Santiago Villalobos Pacheco, of Stockton, California.
Both men were initially charged in state court with dealing in meth and possession of meth. However, because of the nature of the crime, federal prosecutors have moved the case to federal court.
Clay County deputies noted that the Vigo County Sheriff’s Department, the Terre Haute Police Department, the Clay County Prosecutor’s Office, and the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office all assisted in the investigation.
