TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Club Soda is a recovery center for people in the Terre Haute area to get the help they need.
Located in Terre Haute, Club Soda provides a sober living environment, as well as three meals a day and transportation to jobs.
Recently, fire and health department inspections showed Club Soda needs over $30,000 in mandatory upgrades. Along with those, a van used by the facility is in need of $11,000 in repairs.
Program Director Kevin Ball says, as a non-profit, they don’t have any extra money for the upgrades.
That is a bill that we don’t have the money for, so we are trying to get donations to help towards that and towards Koorsen’s to do the work. Then Vigo County Health Department got us on a lead incasement because the building was erected in 1923. The bricks downstairs have lead in them so we have to have that incapsulated and that is a very expensive deal.
Kevin Ball – Club Soda Program Director
The Terre Haute community has begun to help out, but it is just a start.
The program is allowed to continue, and residents can still live at the facility while finances are being figured out.
Ball says if Club Soda shuts down, 80-90 of their members would become homeless. That includes Steven Jesko and his newborn son. He says he doesn’t know where he and his baby would go.
I had to quit my job because I had to be here with him 24/7. They have been very patient and understanding. I don’t know what I would have done without them, honestly.
