VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — On July 22 at around 5:30 p.m., officers were advised of a shooting that had taken place at Autumn Ridge Lane in Vincennes.
Sgt. Aaron Luce of the Vincennes Police Department said this shooting included multiple suspects.
“During that investigation it was discovered that two male suspects and a female driver were in a vehicle and shot multiple rounds at another vehicle containing five total occupants including three adults and two juveniles with one being an infant,” Sgt. Luce said.
One of the victims was shot in the head and rushed to Evansville to be treated. The three suspects were identified as 19-year-old Kyvon Ahmed, 18-year-old Calvin Wittmer, and 23-year-old Madalyn Dennis.
Police said Wittmer was involved in another, separate, act of violence two days later.
“On July 24, Calvin Wittmer also shot and killed another subject in an unrelated shooting,” said Luce. “He was consequently arrested shortly after that.”
Officers also tracked down Ahmed and Dennis last week.
“Ahmed was later located this past Friday here in Vincennes and was taken into custody,” said Luce. “Madalyn Dennis was identified as the driver of the suspect vehicle and she was located on July 23 in Lawrence County, Illinois and was taken into custody.”
Luce added that the public stepped up to help investigators solve these crimes.
“We don’t know everything, and they knew a lot more than we did, so working together with the community and them being so forthcoming with information and helping put those puzzle pieces together to figure out the truth of what happened,” he said.
Wittmer is charged with murder and five counts of attempted murder. Dennis and Ahmed are both charged with five counts attempted murder.
