TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWWV)— The Office of Head Start has awarded an Early Head Start grant to Western Indiana Community Action Agency or WICAA,
WICAA has been providing Head Start services in Vigo County for 59 years and also provides regular and Early Head Start programs in Clay and Putnam counties. With this new funding WICAA can expand its programming to now include kids ages two and younger. WICAA will now be able to offer specialized classrooms for infants, toddlers, and two-year-olds that will encourage physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development and provide parents support.
Early Head Start is a federally funded program made to provide family-centered services for low-income families with small children. The Early Head Start program will serve infants, toddlers, and pregnant women with programming starting this Fall.
Families may apply by calling 812-232-3917 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday or by visiting their website. WICAA also says there will be transition services to help ensure limited disruption to families already enrolled.
