EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Today, July 8, A trio of individuals from Evansville have been sentenced in relation to a plot of smuggling meth in from California.
Colin January (47), Patricia Minor (41), Blenda Lundberg (57), were all sentenced for trying to smuggle in a large amount of methamphetamine into Evansville through the mail from California. According to the release, on April 29, 2022 January had Minor contact Lundberg, via text, about a package being sent to their apartment. Lundberg initially was hesitant to the idea until Minor reminded her that she had previously had similar packages delivered to her home with no problems. Lundberg then stated over text, “As long as I know nothing and nothing else. No trouble at all.”
On May 1, 2022 January had provided Lundberg’s address to a conspirator. Afterwards a package containing 1,374 grams of meth to Lundberg’s apartment through the USPS. January then provided Minor with the name of the person doing the pickup and told them to be ready for the delivery. While the three were at the apartment, law enforcement intercepted the package, removed the meth and performed a controlled delivery. A controlled delivery is when a package is discovered to be containing drugs, a police officer will then be dressed undercover as a mailman to make the delivery.
“Methamphetamine and other controlled substances and have devastating impacts on users, their loved ones, and our communities,” said Zachary A. Myers, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana. “Trafficking organizations are the most significant sources of these poisons and must be held accountable for the suffering they cause in search of quick profits. I commend the efforts of the DEA, Evansville Police Department, and Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office to make our communities safer by getting meth and meth dealers off our streets.”
January was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison and 5 years of supervised release after his guilty plea. Minor was sentenced to 29 months and Lundberg to one year time served.
