FARMERSBURG, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — On Saturday afternoon, Kenny and Devona Ming passed away as a result of a motorcycle accident.
One of their daughters Bridget Beard said when Kenny wasn’t riding his motorcycle or working as a paramedic, he was giving back to the community.
“He also was a volunteer firefighter from when he was 18 until his passing,” Beard said. “He also did a lot of bike rides for a lot of fundraisers for autism and underprivileged kids who didn’t have as much.”
Lauren Ming, another one of their daughters, said they were known for always helping anyone who was in need.
“Everything that they did was never for them, it was for everybody else, like soccer or any of the other organizations they were in,” Ming said. “They were always giving back and never took anything.”
She said as money comes in to support their family during this hard time, the family plans to continue the tradition of giving back.
“A lot of it we’re planning to give to veterans,” Ming said. “My dad’s dad was a veteran, so that is something he cares a lot about and the Riley Children’s Hospital is something he cared a lot about. We are definitely planning on fundraising in their name quite a bit.”
They both said those values will forever be instilled into the Ming family.
“They raised us to be just as caring and giving as them, so it is going to be hard,” said Beard. “Something that we are never going to get over.”
The funeral visitation will be on July 13 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with the service following. It will be held at Dugger Union High School.
There will also be a dinner following the service at the Dugger American Legion Post that is open to the public.
