EDGAR COUNTY, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — Officials in Edgar County have released more details regarding the head-on motorcycle vs vehicle crash that killed a Farmersburg couple over the weekend.
According to the Edgar County Coroner’s Office, the crash occurred at 3 p.m. on Saturday on S.R. 133 approximately two miles west of Redmon. Investigation found that the motorcycle driven by Kenneth Ming, 50, and carrying Devona Ming, 54, had been headed eastbound when they were struck in a head on collision by a westbound Ford Explorer.
The coroner stated that the Mings had moved their motorcycle onto the south shoulder in an attempt to avoid the crash.
Coroner Scott Barrett confirmed that Kenny Ming had died immediately of his injuries from the crash. While Devona Ming was treated on scene by first responders, however resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful and both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Autopsy examinations are scheduled to be performed Monday to determine their official cause of death.
The Coroner noted that in addition to their office, Edgar County Sheriff’s Department, Kansas Police Department, Illinois State Police, Paris Fire Department, Redmon Fire Department, and the Oakland Fire Department responded to the scene.
The investigation remains ongoing into the incident.
