TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – More Vigo County school students in need will go back to class prepared thanks to the community’s generosity.
WTWO/WAWV held a Stuff the Bus event on Wednesday, sponsored by Horizon Health and Prospect Bank.
We collected donations of school supplies at both the south and east Walmarts in Terre Haute.
Chances and Services for Youth Chief Operating Officer Brandon Halleck said he sees a great need in the community for events like this.
“We still have over 55% of our kids on free or reduced lunch. We have more children living in poverty than most anybody in the state of Indiana, so we see that all the time at the community center that I work at. We know that the children definitely have a need throughout the summer, but especially, like I said, heading back into school,” said Halleck.
WTWO/WAWV wants to thank all who donated to our Stuff the Bus event and to our community partners who helped make the event possible.
