WEST TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Update: Officials with the West Terre Haute Water Works have reported that service has been restored and the boil order has been lifted for all customers.
Original: Officials with the West Terre Haute Water Works are reporting an outage affecting a number of customers in western Vigo County.
According to the utility, the outage is affecting customers who are outside of town, with the exception of Ferguson Hill customers.
Customers without water will be under a boil order as soon as the water service is restored until further notice.
The CDC’s guidance for how to properly boil water during these situations is as follows:
- Fill a pot with water.
- Heat the water until bubbles come from the bottom of the pot to the top.
- Once the water reaches a rolling boil, let it boil for 1 minute.
- Turn off the heat source and let the water cool.
- Pour the water into a clean container with a cover for storage.
