TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) —Dozens of people came to the soft opening of a new cafe with furry friends.
The Catmosphere Cafe is a place you can go to enjoy a quick snack while visiting with cats. The cafe side is separate from the cat lounge and costs $8 for a half hour and $12 for an hour. All cats in the cat lounge are from the Terre Haute Humane Society and are available for adoption.
The cafe will be hosting special events like cat yoga and painting with cats. There is also cat themed art for sale from local artists.
The cafe is located in the 12 Points area and will be open again on June 24 from 4-7. Food and beverages come prepackaged from other local shops.
Owner Jade Lishka says this is no ordinary cafe.
“We have cats,” Lishka said. “They are adoptable cats. You can come in, play with cats, get your cat fix. If you rent and cannot have cats, if you have a family member who is allergic and you can’t have cats, you can come in and just play with them. We have half hour visits to one hour visits. If you are looking to adopt, you can actually see their personality.”
Grand opening has yet to be determined and will be announced on the cafe’s Facebook page.
