INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— CenterPoint Energy announced today that Hoosiers will be using a new system to pay their bills.
Starting July 2 CenterPoint customers will be receiving a new account number for their new online interface. The company claims that this change will come with a redesigned bill, simpler program enrollment, more self-service options, and other new features. You can find this new account number in July by either checking the upper right of your bill, online at their website on the left of the dashboard, or by calling their customer service line.
“We recognize this transition may require additional efforts from some customers, and we appreciate their patience and understanding as we transition to the new system,” said Tony Gardner, CenterPoint Energy’s Senior Vice President, Customer Experience and Chief Customer Officer. “CenterPoint is committed to providing continuous support and keeping our customers informed throughout this process.”
CenterPoint does want to let people know that during the process of transitioning that the online account management and automated phone service will be down from June 27-July 1. To avoid any processing delays they recommend customers get their payments figured out before June 26. Customers also will need to let banking institutions know about the change in account number if they have automatic bill pay initiated.
Customers however that receive assistance through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) will not need to pursue any changes and will continue to receive help. Information on the process is now available on their website with an extensive FAQ section. This includes detailed guidance on the new features and best ways to help navigate the system. Customer service will be available after the transition for additional concerns and for more information and updates visit the website.
