TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— On June 26 Catholic Charities will be hosting a Duck Tagging Party to prepare for this year’s Wabash Valley Duck Regatta.
Catholic Charities Foodbank is looking for volunteers to make sure ducks are in shape for this year’s Regatta on July 4.
The “Duck Tagging Party” will be June 26 at 5 p.m., volunteers will be needed to make sure the 15,000 ducks are all properly numbered and tagged to be ready for the event. One lucky winner will receive $10,000 and a chance at $1 million.
“Since Opening Day of Duck Season, we have held several Duck Adoption events and have met so many people who are excited not only about the race, but about how good it feels to know they are helping their neighbors who may be struggling,” said John C. Etling, Agency Director for Catholic Charities. “In addition, we are grateful for the enthusiastic support of all of our sponsors who have provided the means for us to make this year’s event a success.”
Organizers of the event are already happy with the community’s support of the initiative. The Regatta’s proceeds will go towards the fight against hunger, homelessness and financial insecurity in west central Indiana. Ducks are also still available for adoption. A list of locations where you can still adopt is on the website.
