TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The new Goodwill Excel Center will be at the Meadows Shopping Center.
With the location being confirmed comes great opportunities for people to finish their education. The project was made in part by the $250,000 in ARPA funding given to Wabash Valley Goodwill for startup costs. President/CEO Meredith Osburn says it will help tremendously.
“Buying computers, buying chairs, buying desks,” Osburn said. “The paint going up on the wall, student marketing materials, all of that matters to support the student recruitment and enrollment and ensure that we have all the proper materials prepared and ready.”
The Excel Center will allow people 18 and older the opportunity to earn their high school diploma. The benefits include free tuition and childcare, transportation assistance, life coaches and a flexible schedule. Osburn says it adapts to everyone.
“It depends on your life need,” Osburn said. “You’ve got a full-time job, you’ve got a family to support, so maybe you just come a couple of days a week, a couple of hours a day just depending on how we can help structure you to get you through the door to get you that high school diploma.”
The facility will open on August 5 in a temporary location in the basement of the Meadows Shopping Center. Construction will be completed in the spring of 2025.
