TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Arby’s Foundation is dedicated to giving back to its communities through donations.
This year, the foundation will donate 4.5 million dollars to organizations across the country that support childhood hunger, youth leadership and career readiness initiatives. Here locally, they donated 48 hundred dollars to Terre Haute Catholic Charities Foodbank, and 4 thousand dollars to West Vigo Community Center and Food Pantry.
This money will help the organizations provide food for children while school is out and other things. Development Manager for Catholic Charities Jessica Murphy said the funds help address the food insecurity in the area.
“The most recent Map the Meal numbers that just came out through Feeding America show for our service area one in every five children experiences food insecurity. In Vigo County specifically we’re tied for the fourth highest rate of child food insecurity in the entire state of Indiana,” she said.
