SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Big news was shared Monday night at the Northeast School Corporation’s monthly meeting.
Dustin Hitt will serve as the new Superintendent starting in August. Hitt was the principal at Sullivan Middle School for 17 years. He said becoming superintendent has always been a goal of his and loves working with the students.
Northeast School Corporation consists of North Central, North Elementary school in Farmersburg, and East Elementary school in Hymera.
Hitt said he’s excited to start working.
“Definitely just want to be out and visible. Meet with the teachers. Take stakeholder input. Get out in the community and then just listen and learn. And I got some big shoes to fill so. Also learn as much as I can off of Dr. Baker as long as he’s here,” he said.
Past Superintendent Dr. Mark Baker announced his retirement in February and his last day will be July 31 2024.
