FARMERSBURG, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Friday morning, Terre Haute resident and America’s Got Talent sensation Richard Goodall visited the WTWO studio to appear on Good Day Live.
After a performance that swept the America’s Got Talent judges off their feet, Goodall reflects on going from the halls of West Vigo Middle School to the red carpet.
“How do you wrap your head around that,” he said. “I am still me and I am at West Vigo Middle School right now and I don’t know how you wrap your head around that.”
Goodall said that anyone with eyes could see that he was nervous getting on the stage. However, as soon as the music hit, he knew he would be okay.
“I went to my music,” he said. “When I hear Journey, Foreigner, and Survivor music it centers me, calms me down, and lets me know that I am okay.”
He said that nothing could have prepared him for all of the praise and recognition he has received so far.
“After the show has aired, there has been so much support,” he said. “I cannot answer all of the messages that have come across, like thousands and thousands.”
Goodall said that no matter how far this takes him, he will always be Mr. Richard from Terre Haute, Indiana.
“How could I possibly become a diva type of person, I’m not, that is not going to happen,” he said. “I am not a fancy person, I never have been, and I never will be. I am a basic person just like everyone else.”
Goodall’s next opportunity to be on America’s Got Talent will be when the live shows begin on August 13.
