COALMONT, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Sunday morning’s severe weather caused damage in parts of the Wabash Valley and knocked out power to hundreds of customers.
In Clay County, damage was reported on State Road 159 in the Coalmont area, according to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
Our reporter on the scene reports trees and powerlines down in the area of SR 159 and Public Road in Coalmont. A portion of the roof was also ripped off at the fire department there.
No reports of injuries at this time.
SR 159 remains closed at this hour in the area of Public Road.

As of 2:45 p.m. Sunday, more than 300 Duke Energy customers were still without power, hours after the first round of strong storms hit, according to the Duke Energy outage map. That number was under 100 as of 6:47 p.m.

This same storm system caused a weather delay at the Indy 500 as the line of strong storms moved to the east. Fans have been allowed back into the stands and the race is set to continue.
