VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Monday morning, the Vigo County School Corporation’s Teacher of the Year award was presented to Cory Freihaut.
Freihaut has been a special education teacher a Terre Town Elementary for 5 years. Both of his parents were also lifelong educators, and he said that makes an award like this even more special.
Freihaut said that although the awards are nice, that isn’t the reason he loves his job.
“Sometimes we get bogged down and in a rut, but sometimes they just have to see that all the hard work that their teachers just put in got rewarded. They also get rewarded for their hard work put I hope it spills over to them that it really does happen,” said Freihaut.
He added that none of this would have been possible without the help of the numerous teacher aids that he has had during his time at Terre Town.
