PARKE COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Terre Haute man will spend years behind bars after being sentenced for possession of child pornography.
Harry Pumphrey was in Parke County Circuit Court for sentencing on Tuesday. The Judge accepted Pumphrey’s guilty plea as part of a plea agreement to two counts of possessing child pornography.
As part of the deal the state agreed to drop a charge of child solicitation, and further possession of child pornography charges.
According to the Rockville Police Department, Pumphrey was initially arrested in February of 2023, after police said he attempted to meet what he believed to be a 12 year old girl at a Rockville park. Police were made aware of the situation by the group Predator Hunters of Indiana who provided electronic files of conversations between the man and the decoy child. During his arrest, Pumphrey also had gifts he had purchased to give to the “girl.”
Police said a search of his cell phone found “a large amount” of child sex abuse material on Pumphrey’s cell phone.
On Tuesday, Judge Sam A. Swaim handed Pumphrey a sentence of 910 days for each of the level 6 felony charges of possessing child porn. The first 730 days to be executed in prison, with the remaining time suspended to probation.
Pumphrey received credit for 3 days time served. Judge Swaim also ordered Pumphrey pay a fine of $100 in addition to court costs. Pumphrey must also follow all rules for adult sex offenders in the state.
