VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Finding yourself with hard to dispose of large items after your spring cleaning?
Residents in Vincennes will have two opportunities to dispose of those items this summer.
Mayor Joe Yochum announced the city will hold two “City-Wide Large Item Disposal Days” on June 1 & 8.
On those days from 8-11:30 a.m. Republic Services at 2706 North Second Street will be accepting items that are too large to place in trash bags for a free disposal.
“Accepted items include household furniture, mattresses, large toys, carpeting tied in three (3) foot bundles, and appliances not containing chlorofluorocarbons (CFSs) and hydrofluorocarbons (HCFCs) such as refrigerators and air conditioners,” a news release reads.
Those disposing of items will be required to show photo identification with their in-city address listed to verify they are a resident.
Items not accepted include;
- construction debris
- building materials
- tires
- paint
- liquid waste
- electronics
- hazardous waste
- Freon-containing or appliances that have contained Freon
- batteries
- free liquids
- paint cans
- oil jugs
- chemical jugs
- materials containing asbestos
- E-waste
A news release notes that paint cans that have become solid waste will be accepted.
