VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — An area child got a chance to get up close and personal with local law enforcement officers this week.
According to the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Belfi as well as an officer from the Terre Haute Police Department and Indiana State Police gathered to chat with and show a local kid named Everet around their patrol vehicles.
The Sheriff’s Office said they received a request to meet with Everet as part of Williams Syndrome Awareness Month.
“You are looking good in that uniform Everet. Hopefully you taught these officers a thing or two,” the post reads.
The Williams Syndrome Association describes the condition as follows:
Williams syndrome (WS) is a genetic condition that is present at birth and can affect anyone. It is characterized by medical problems, including cardiovascular disease, developmental delays, and learning challenges. These often occur side by side with striking verbal abilities, highly social personalities, and an affinity for music. WS occurs equally in males and females and in all cultures worldwide.
