TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Update: Sgt. Sears said the roadway re-opened much sooner than expected as railroad inspectors completed their work around 1 p.m.
Original: A cement truck damaging a railroad trestle has caused a section of Wabash Avenue to be closed in Terre Haute.
That’s according to Terre Haute Police Public Information Officer Sgt. Justin Sears, who said the incident occurred around noon Wednesday.
Sears said Wabash Avenue, also known as U.S. 40, between Fruitridge Avenue and Keane Lane is closed as a result.
Sears added that police are waiting for inspectors to evaluate the damage to the trestle before reopening the roadway.
No injuries occurred in the incident, Sgt. Sears said the inspection is expected to take a couple of hours including the travel time for inspectors.
