TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Terre Haute man has been charged with child molesting after police say he failed a polygraph test.
Seth Gerdink, 33, appeared in a Vigo County Superior Court on Friday for an initial hearing after his arrest on April 30. Prosecutors formally charged Gerdink with a singular count of level 4 felony child molesting.
According to court documents, Gerdink is accused of touching a pre-teen girl inappropriately on March 15.
During an interview with Terre Haute Police on April 12, Gerdink denied the charge saying the alleged victim was lying and asked police if he could take a polygraph test to prove his innocence. On April 30, Gerdink was taken to the Putnamville State Police Post where took the test.
“After this examination, ISP polygrapher Paul Hansard advised that Seth Gerdink failed the polygraph examination,” the probable cause affidavit reads.
Gerdink was then taken to the Vigo County Jail where he has been held on a $35,000 bond with no 10% allowed.
