VERMILLION COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — WTWO recently sat down with Misty Hess, one of the Republican Candidates for Vermillion County Commissioner, Dist. 1.
Misty Hess currently works in an administrative role, having 26 years of experience in higher education. In that role, she said she serves on several leadership boards and believes her work experience and the countless hours she’s spent volunteering in the community qualify her for the job of commissioner.
Hess and her husband raise two children in the community, and if elected, she said she plans to bring her family values into the leadership role and ensure that the people of Vermillion County’s voices are heard.
She said that by leading with her servant’s heart, she would listen and treat the citizens with the respect they deserved.
“I jumped in the race because I have seen some things that need to be changed. I believe that we need new leadership,” Hess said. “We need people that are going to listen to others. I will be there to advocate for the people that need advocated for. I think it’s important that people stand up and advocate for others, and so I think that’s really important.”
As we near the election, WTWO will continue conversations with the candidates. The Indiana primary election day is on May 7th.
