VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — National Park Week kicks off tomorrow as a reminder of the many treasures people can visit across the country and even here in Indiana.
The National Park Service runs 400 parks and historic sites across the U.S. including the George Rogers Clark Memorial in Vincennes. The park ranger there, Joe Herron, said they invite people to stop by and admission is always free.
Indiana has two other national parks or historic sites with one being Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial near Santa Claus, Indiana. People can see the foundation of president Lincoln’s boyhood home, tour a replica of the cabin, and visit his mother’s grave.
The other national park is up at the Indiana Dunes in the northern part of the state.
