TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – With the solar eclipse less than a day away, here are some things to keep in mind.
Local businesses are preparing for a mass influx of people, but some like the Children’s Museum are using it as an educational experience. Executive director Susan Turner has confidence that the proper measures will be taken.
“We are working very closely with local police and fire officials,” she said. “Safety management will make sure that everybody in our community stays safe and has a really great time. We are super excited to welcome all of our tourist friends and also those who call the Wabash Valley home.”
Travel on the roads will be a topic of concern as well. Sergeant Matt Ames of the Indiana State Police had some tips for being on the roads.
“The most important thing is to make sure that all motorists are being patient,” he said. “They are being courteous, they are buckled up and not driving distracted while they are out there. By doing that, that’s going to allow the traffic to move a lot smoother and be able to get you home safely after the eclipse is done and over with.”
