TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Indiana State University hosted their 15th annual Dance Marathon at the Student Rec Center Saturday.
The event benefits Riley Children’s hospital, and it was able to raise over $100,000 last year. They upped the ante this year and set the goal at $150,000. The students present were on their feet for eight consecutive hours dancing to raise money for the cause.
The students were able to see firsthand how the money they raise works wonders, as several “Riley Families” were present. ISU Dance Marathon president Emma Land found her cause for the fundraiser.
“The impact of seeing the families,” she said. “We just had a Riley family share their story and to see and experience what they went through, that’s huge.”
Land and others have taken notice of how big the event has become, and it shows no signs of slowing down.
“It’s a big tradition on campus,” she said. “We are consistently one of the largest student-led organizations on campus. Just being able to continue this tradition throughout Indiana State’s history is really big.”
