VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Some news in the world of pickleball, a groundbreaking event was held on Tuesday as a part of the Gregg Park Pickleball Court Restoration project.
Regina Blinn is the vice president of the Vincennes Pickleball Club and she said the group is hoping to complete renovations by the middle or end of May with weather permitting.
“So we’re in the process of eliminating the existing surface, they are scraping it off as we speak,” Blinn said. “Then the next process will be to put in some fencing, we will also put in new nets and we’ll have a new surface, it’ll be more like a tennis court surface, so everybody can play a good game and be safe and not have to worry about injury,” Blinn added.
Blinn noted that the funding comes through the Indiana Housing Community Development Authority.
Altogether, they raised $100,261 for renovations as well as received a matching grant, of $50,000.
Blinn also said their existing pickleball courts have been in use for about 5 years, and are in need of some repairs.
