TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — An initial hearing was held at the Vigo County Courthouse on Wednesday for 19-year-old James Ready, of Terre Haute who is facing one count of resisting law enforcement and one count of murder.
A preliminary plea of not guilty was entered on behalf of the defendant, and a public defender was appointed to represent Ready. Ready is facing a murder charge after Terre Haute Police said he stabbed Vito Bugni, 43, on Tuesday March 26. Bugni died after being taken to an area hospital.
At the initial hearing at the Vigo County Courthouse Ready appeared via teleconferencing from the Vigo County Jail. Ready was informed that his murder charge carries a possible 45-65 year sentence, and one count of resisting law enforcement, where Ready is facing up to an additional year.
Vigo County Jail officials confirmed that Ready is being held on no bond at this time.
