VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Vigo County Sheriff’s office arrested a 19-year-old man after he led police in a pursuit that ended in a crash in southern Vigo County.
According to Vigo County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Steve Meng, the incident began when a woman contacted 911 and informed them that her ex-boyfriend was following her vehicle.
Chief Meng said deputies attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle in the parking lot of the southside Menard’s location, however the suspect fled north on U.S. 41. Meng said the pursuit came to an end when the driver attempted to make a U-turn and lost control of the vehicle before it crashed into a ditch on the west side of the roadway near the entrance of Gibault Children’s Services.
The driver, Macen Bobbit, 19, was arrested without further incident and taken to the Vigo County Jail. Chief Meng said the arrest was for a charge of resisting law enforcement.
