TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — One local group honored three members that dedicated decades of their lives to serving Vigo County.
“These three are the reason that a lot of the current members are a part of this and why the group is as strong as it is today,” said publicity chair for the Terre Haute Women’s Club, Heather Wolf.
Saturday afternoon, the Terre Haute Women’s Club held a tree dedication at Deming Park to forever remember Susan Helman, Deanna Lichtenberger, and Imogene Roberts. These three had multiple decades of serving Vigo County through the Terre Haute Women’s Club and the Shoe Bus.
All active members give as many as 1200 children in the community shoes and socks via the Shoe Bus.
Wolf said that she hopes these trees continue their legacy forever.
“They have all given numerous ways besides the Women’s club to our community, so we thought this was a really nice way to honor them in perpetuity with the trees so that it will continue to grow and be a part of the community forever,” said Wolf.
The Terre Haute Women’s Club will have a ribeye cookout at Baesler’s in Terre Haute on April 5th that will include the Shoe Bus.
