PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A driver was arrested after 70 pounds of cocaine, 45 pounds of marijuana, and $47,735 were found by Indiana State Police.
According to a release from ISP, around 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19, an ISP Trooper pulled over a Freightliner for a routine DOT inspection on eastbound Interstate 70 near the 41-mile marker.
During the traffic stop, the Trooper noticed “criminal indicators” and a consensual investigation was conducted of the tractor-trailer. Law enforcement officers found 70 pounds of cocaine, 45 pounds of marijuana, and $47,735.
The driver was taken into custody and then to the Putnam County Jail where they were charged with the following:
- Dealing narcotics | Level 2 felony
- Dealing marijuana | Level 5 felony
The release notes the driver was reportedly traveling from Los Angeles, California, to Indianapolis, Indiana, and “the estimated street value of the marijuana is $100,000 and the cocaine is 1 million dollars.”
