VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Those following the case against Montez Ellington Jr. regarding charges of murder for his involvement in the death of Chloe Carroll will have to wait a bit longer.
Following a motion for continuance filed by the defense earlier this month, a Vigo County judge vacated the planned March 18 jury trial date.
Wednesday a hearing was held to set the future dates regarding Ellington’s charges of murder, attempted murder, and criminal recklessness.
The charges stem from the 2021 shooting death of Chloe Carroll. Carroll is the 15-year-old who was killed on July 23, 2021, when officers responded to a report of shots fired near 13th and Poplar Streets. Police said Carroll had been among a group of teens and was in the back passenger seat of a vehicle parked at the Hoosier Pete Mini Mart when she was shot.
