TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Vigo County highlighted its work during the annual Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce County Update.
During Wednesday’s presentation, commissioners highlighted that halting population decline and increasing per capita income, as laid out in the community plan, drive all their work and decisions.
Other talking points included addressing the housing shortage, proposed plans for the recently vacated Vigo County Security Center, the Terre Haute Air Show, tourism with the Terre Haute Casino Resort opening this year, and the total eclipse.
Vigo County Commissioner Chris Switzer said that all of this activity in the community is simply amazing.
“It is incredible to see people taking a chance on Vigo County,” he said. “I think it is something that we haven’t seen in the past and these big corporations and manufacturers are picking Vigo County for a reason.”
Switzer added that he is nothing but thrilled about the future of Terre Haute.
“I feel like the sky is the limit in terms of what this city is on the track to becoming in the upcoming years,” he said. “It is truly a thrill to be able to be a part of making this community the best place it can be.”
