VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Terre Haute man has been arrested and charged with aggravated battery after law enforcement responded to a report of a stabbing.
According to the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement responded to a residence in the 5000 block of Winthrop Court in southern Vigo County around 4:50 p.m. on Sunday.
Upon arrival, officers found that the victim had been taken to a local hospital for medical treatment by a witness of the incident. The victim received treatment for multiple stab wounds and has since been released from the hospital.
Officers were able to conduct an investigation of the scene including examining evidence and questioning witnesses.
The results of the initial investigation led to the arrest of 41 year old Joseph E. Johnson of Terre Haute, Indiana formerly of Chicago, Illinois. Johnson has been charged with the following:
- Aggravated Battery | Level 3 felony
- Battery – resulting in serious bodily injury | Level 5 felony
- Invasion of Privacy | Class A misdemeanor
