BRAZIL, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — If you missed last week’s Tip-a-Cop fundraiser for Special Olympics at Texas Roadhouse, you have a second chance to help out.
A second Tip-a-Cop event will take place at Pappy’s BBQ in Brazil.
The event will be held on February 21 from 4-8 p.m.
During that time, law enforcement officers from the Brazil Police Department, Indiana State Police, ISU Police, and the Clay County Sheriff’s Office will serve as wait-staff, taking orders and delivering food to tables.
Any tips they collect will be put toward Special Olympics Indiana.
ISU Police Sgt. Jacquelyn Smith said the money helps make it possible for Special Olympics Indiana athletes to compete in the yearly summer games in Terre Haute.
“100% of the police officers’ tips come to Special Olympics,” Smith said. “It’s helping Clay County to get involved. We haven’t really ventured from Vigo County to Clay County, but we’re happy that they’re on board and the money they donate, and Pappy’s BBQ is going to donate 10% of the sales the entire day to Special Olympics.”
The Tip-a-Cop event also serves as a promotion for the Polar Plunge Fundraiser which raises additional money for Special Olympics Indiana. This year’s polar plunge will take place on February 24 on the Indiana State University campus.
