VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Five counties in the Wabash Valley are hoping to secure READI 2.0 funding for a wide variety of community projects.
The Wabash River Regional Development Authority has 37 applications that were submitted and the requests will then be presented to the state for funding.
The Wabash River RDA represents the counties of Clay, Parke, Sullivan, Vermillion, and Vigo.
Jon Ford is the chairman of the organization and he said projects they received range from child care to entertainment to advanced manufacturing programs. He also said he’s pleased with the amount of projects that were submitted.
“Looking at the applications, they’re really laying the tracks for a really robust future,” Ford said. “When you think about child care, we can’t talk about attracting jobs without child care. We can’t talk about growing our community without housing.”
The Wabash River RDA will take those projects to write up a regional strategy that will be submitted to the state which will later determine the funding to be awarded.
Ford expects awards to be announced in the summer.
