TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Update: The ramp between U.S. 40 and Interstate 70 has been reopened after a semi roll-over crash caused the entrance ramp to be closed.
According to ISP Sgt. Matt Ames, the ramp was reopened as of 5:23 p.m.
Original: A Semi-truck crash has caused the ramp between U.S. 40 and Interstate 70 to be shut down as crews work to clear the scene.
That’s according to Indiana State Police Sgt. Matt Ames, who confirmed that a wreck had occurred on I-70 westbound where the ramp from U.S. 40 joins the interstate near the 1 mile marker.
Sgt. Ames said that the semi-tractor trailer was the only vehicle involved in the incident.
“The driver advised that he reached down to grab a water bottle, then lost control of the vehicle,” Ames said.
After losing control, the semi reportedly went to the north side of I-70 and then rolled over on its passenger side.
Ames said the driver was uninjured in the incident.
Ames thanked Sugar Creek Fire Department, Trans Care Ambulance, the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office as well as Peffley and Hinshaw wrecker crews for their assistance at the scene.
Ames said the cleanup is expected to take a few hours and asked drivers to avoid the area if possible.
